Me, being from the north, had never experienced such an event like I did on Saturday. Our small group, who consists of 3 married couples and 4 singles, got together and boiled 44 pounds of crawfish. Now, I had no desire to eat any of that, but I did enjoy cracking the shells for my husband! Here are a few pictures from our day. Hope you enjoy!
For those who didn't care to eat the side dishes (sausage, corn on the cob and potatoes) that were boiled with the crawfish, I made Melba's Beans (type of baked beans) and Potato Salad. Here is the recipe for the beans.
1 lb beef
bacon
1 can lima beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can hot Chili beans
1 can baked beans
1/2 cup BBQ sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
Ground the beef, grill the bacon and add everything into a crockpot for 2 hours. Since everything is already cooked, you're wanting to get your beans tender... It was a HUGE hit at our get-together! We had just enough leftovers for husband and I to eat the next day. (1 serving each)
